    Clean install windows 10 with 8 partitions

    Hi everyone, i've upgraded from windows 8.1 with uefi bios, so basically now i can do clean install 10 without product key?
    But the real question is: My pc have 8 partitions, the primary one, 5 of recovery, 1 oem and 1 efi.
    Can i delete all partitions and create only one?
    Thank you

    Hi Cero, welcome to TF!

    If you are doing a clean install, then you will be able to reformat the drive to a single partition during installation, when using the installation media it will give you the option of where to install.

    When you get to this screen : Clean install windows 10 with 8 partitions-650x491xcreate-new-partition-alongside-windows-7-8-windows-10.png.pagespeed.ic.kklg_f7r.png.

    You should delete all the unwanted partitions, then click the large un-allocated space that is left.

    During a clean install (meaning you delete all partitions before) windows itself will create two partitions. Partition 1 - System Reserved and Partition 2 - C:.

    The Main concern, do you have any data on those partitions that you want to save? If not, then you can delete them without any problems.

    This is correct if you install using MBR. Windows will create a 500MB reserved partition and C: drive. However, if you install using EFI, Windows will create 4 partitions: 450MB reserved partition, 100MB System, 16MB MSR and C: Drive.

    @OP,
    If you don't have anything to save then the easiest way is:
    1. Connect only one disk drive to your PC
    2. Boot up the installation media
    3. On the first screen, press & Hold SHIFT KEY + F10, a command windows will pop up
    4. type: diskpart -> Select disk 0 ->Clean then close the command windows
    5. Continue with the installation, select custom, hi-lite the unallocated partition then click next

    You should always unplug all the drives apart from the OS drive as Windows can in some situations install parts of itself on other drives making it troublesome when you need to replace that drive.
