So really, I follow what db236 did except I didn't really mash any buttons at 75 percent or any of that. I just let Windows installation do its part.

    1) Refer to db236 Link and download the dell bios update for June 2015.
    2) Let it install and keep laptop plug in and your bios will flash.
    3) After laptop boots back up, install the latest Nvidia driver 353.62 using Nvidia GeForce Experience and restart your computer. Black screen should not appear now.
    4) I update to Windows 10 using the media tool not the reservation, using this link : Windows 10 , Download according what bit your system is running: 32 or 64 bit

    5) Then, I used the Upgrade to Windows 10, I kept all my personal files and settings and let Windows run the upgrade
    6) And now you sit back and relax and watch the percentage go up.
    7) Normally, after the percentage, the problem arise with the black screen but it wont happen anymore. You will be greeted with some windows 10 set up, I recommend using Customize settings to configure your prefer Windows setting
    8) Tadah, Windows 10 right in front of you

I hope I was clear in what I did.

I'm stuck as well with same issue. Updated my 7537 to windows 10 initially it stuck with no display backlight. Now my machine is on reboot loop. I don't see any recovery option. Disk looks to get and uefi. I don't have product key details not sure if I format and reinstall work. Any suggestions?

    The Fix! (For me anyways)

    Hey guys and gals,
This worked for me and was able to launch with Windows 10!

Simply wait until you see a cursor on your screen and then turn off your computer
Turn it back on and go into BIOS (My key was F2)
Exit BIOS and when you do I had a conformation to leave and it looked different to my original bar that would show up
Then take your cable used to display on your Monitor(s) and plug it into your motherboards graphics
When you do, you should see a setup screen
Select Setup and wait for it to finish
Select your Profile and then go to display settings
Select one monitor and click 'Apply'
Then plug back into your GPU and viola!

I've had the same issues with my 7537 as everybody else in the thread, after reading through I did the following which worked:

    1) Re-installed Win8.1 64 bit (clean install)
    2) Did the BIOS update from Dell
    3) Did all the Win8.1 updates available
    4) Upgraded to Win10 from Windows Update

Step three may or may not be required, I didn't test the upgrade after the BIOS update, but to be safe I let it update for an hour or so just in case.

Either way Win10 is up and running finally, which is thanks to everybody in this thread so far :)

    Hey guys,

I was installing windows 10 (8.1 before) on my Dell inspiron 15 7000 series (7537), and it progressed to restarting after the installing drivers step, but after the restart and going through the dell startup screen, everything went black. The HDD light is stuck on and not flickering like it normally does. There is no cursor or anything on the screen, it's just black. I waited for an hour and nothing changed, so I thought maybe it was frozen, so I restarted the computer via hard reset, which took it to a "attempting to recover update" screen, but after a few seconds on that screen it went immediately back to the black screen.
Its been about 30 min since that hard restart and its still black, HDD light still on, and nothing seems to be happening. Does anyone have any solutions to this???
    Thanks!
I had the same issue but now when I try to turn my computer on, after a hard reset, nothing happens and it starts beeping at me. Help!

Sounds like a memory problem. Try removing and reinserting your memory, see if that resolves the problem. Otherwise remove half and test. If no good swap memory and test again.

Hey. Inspiron 7537 user here. Just wanted to chime in and confirm what Alphos2000 (THANK YOU!!!) said : upgrading the BIOS saved the day after 2 failed installs (one which booted seemingly correctly after a fatal video BSOD during install, then a full system reset from recovery tools). So basically I turned the computer off when I saw the cursorless black screen during the second installation, I got FreeDOS on a usb stick (using Rufus) with the install files for BIOS A13 from Dell's site, and after disabling UEFI, booting from USB, flashing BIOS and re-enabling UEFI, Windows 10 finished it's installation process with no problems, activated and all.

It's kind of sad that Dell didn't mention the mandatory BIOS update but I guess they wouldn't have a reason to test it with an old version of the BIOS or to keep such units lying around... I'll try to somehow let them know they should add an asterix in their table because I don't know many people who go around flashing their BIOS all the time for fun. I for one don't really think about it unless there's a known issue or something that affects me. Anyways, thanks again.

FIX- Windows 10 blank screen during install (DELL)

    Hi, this worked for me.
I went to device manager and disabled the Nvidia GeForce GT 750M before I started the upgrade. I have failed 9 times before i tried that. Windows 10 now fully installed. Upgraded from 8.1. I also upgraded my BIOS too!
    Best of luck.
