This works without the ICON showing. I just redid my PC last night couldn't get the ICON back, I did reserve already and have the update installed. Ran this and it's downloading!

if you already had a previous version of the windows
    (technical preview build 9926)
do you still have to wait for the windows icon to pop up or do you have to do something different ?

No previous version of win 10 has been installed, ever. After I enter the instruction in dos prompt; I hit enter, then close it. I open windows update and the update had began to download. It was during installation I got a failure and something that said 'Win 10 needs your attention' - whatever that is, as it wasn't installed how can it require my attention??

did you run the compatibility check to see if you have incompatible apps? We've run into Office 2010 Starter and Office Click to Run as apps that are incompatible today, after removing them, all was well.

Was your Windows 10 activated? I tried it earlier today and activation failed.

I finally got Win10 installed (upgraded from 7 Pro).
    The upgrade files downloaded yesterday.
I waited but no upgrade happened.
Then today I checked my Windows Update log and found that the upgrade had failed with the error code 80240020.
I went to the Microsoft site to download the Upgrade Tool.
I downloaded it and ran it and selected "upgrade" not "create an ISO".
I did NOT delete the contents of the Download folder as some have suggested, I just let it run.
It took about one hour on an AMD Phenom II X945 and 8GB Memory.

Don't know why it failed this morning on the automatic upgrade.
