What a mess upgrade to win 10 pro

    Up until July 29th, I had the Windows 10 Update app in my taskbar, where I requested the download when it was available. Today, July 30th, the app icon disappeared, and I haven't received any kind of notification that Windows 10 was available, downloaded or anything. Can someone advise why the icon disappeared? Also, when booting up this morning, I noticed a long internet download, but could not establish what it was. I checked Windows Updates and there was on a compatibility update, which I installed. But still no notification of any kind. Can someone tell me exactly what is supposed to happen as an advise and download?

    Your supposed to get a notice that Windows 10 is available and ready to be upgraded. Since you are not getting that, use this method to download and create a Windows 10 ISO:

    Windows 10 ISO Download - Windows 10 Forums

    Next use one of these methods to start the upgrade:

    1. Mounting the ISO on your running Windows 7 or 8.1 system (right click on it and select Mount).
    2. Burning a DVD then inserting the DVD in the optical drive.
    3. Creating a bootable flash drive (I use Rufus to do this) and inserting it.

    For any of these methods, open Computer or This PC and navigate to the drive for 1 2 or 3 above. Double click on setup.exe to start the upgrade.

    How to make windows 10 work!!!!
    i tried everything command prompt, del softwaredistribution/download, del $win nothing worked
    Then i tried the microsoft media creation tool when you run it on upgrade and there is a program blocking it it tells you what it is and will uninstall it for you if you choose. it worked on the first try. So if you are experiencing error after error search microsoft for the creation tool and it should help you. if not what have you lost? i know it helped me

    Hi there. Welcome to the forum.

    If for some reason someone misses the reservation copy in their OS the Windows Media Creation Tool is the only other alternative as Ztruker just explained. It's been that way for a couple of days now. Thanks for reminding Everyone, though. :)
