    Local account installation question

Hey all, just wondering what to look for when I get around to installing 10 after the release as to local account setup. It was tricky with 8/8.1 so want to avoid any problems. Skipping step(s), small worded info on lower part of screen, etc.

I did a search here and looks like a lot of local account questions so sorry if this has been asked and answered already.

If you are asking how to install without MSA creation (solely local acc. installation):

As long as you set it up from a physical medium just stay d/c'ed from the net and you wont even get to any point where you have to skip something, it will automatically skip the MSA creation. Also if you are using a statically configured IP network anyway then it will be automatically skipped as well.

    Hey Popeye,

If you mean to install Windows with a local account, then you can use step 20 below to do so. This is for build 10130. :)

Thanks Shawn! So, if I do the upgrade instead of clean install will my local account stay intact? Sorry for the somewhat newbie questions but I just want to be sure I don't find myself with a MS account or locked out of my local account.

No worries. Yep, your account's will remain intact when upgrading to Windows 10 as long as it's the same 32/64 bit and language.

In the leaked builds, there is an option to Skip this step which takes you to the Local Account Setup. This may be the procedure for the next public release...

As stated, you won't have to worry about that at all (!) as long as you unplug your network cord for those 30 minutes of installing.
Then when the desktop loads for the first time you plug it in again and are ready for activation.
