What do you think will happen when the final version is released?

I have read most of all the threads here and just wondered when the final version is ready to release and I say yes to the update to my desktop PC what will it do?

I know it will use my previous Windows Prod ID to install but wondered if it really will be like a fresh install and leave a OLD_Windows directory like in past installs of Windows?

The reason I ask is because I always like a fresh clean install in hopes that Windows will feel better when done.
    With newer drivers and such.

I also know I can download the iso and burn to a DVD for future install.

So what do you think will be available or happen?

    Thanks

Assuming you're updating from a qualifying edition of Windows 7 or 8.x, I think you will be able to:
    1. Upgrade in-place to Windows 10 (this will leave a Windows.old folder behind) and let it activate.
    2. Clean install Windows 10 on the same hardware - at this point I believe you can wipe everything if you want.

    From the Windows 10 FAQ:
Can I reinstall Windows 10 on my computer after upgrading?

Yes. Once you’ve upgraded to Windows 10 using the free upgrade offer, you will be able to reinstall, including a clean install, on the same device. You won’t need to purchase Windows 10 or go back to your prior version of Windows and upgrade again.

You’ll also be able to create your own installation media like a USB drive or DVD, and use that to upgrade your device or reinstall after you’ve upgraded.

You need to upgrade from an eligible device, and once done, you can then blow that away and do a clean install.
But not sure yet if that means you can do a reset using the Windows recovery tools, or if you can actually start with a new hard drive or ISO in order to do the clean install.

If your already running the TP It should be like going to a new build is now. You should keep everything.
If your running Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 it should be similar to doing the upgrade from the Insiders page is now.
You might lose a program, depends on how old it is etc. Media Center if installed will be uninstalled.
