    "Windows 10 installation has failed"

I've spent hours trying to do a repair install of Windows 10 following the instructions on TenForums. The machine is running Windows 10 Home x64 1607. The reason I'm doing a repair install is because some system files are corrupted. I've tried running "sfc /scannow" in safe mode and it wasn't able to fix everything. Tried using DISM as well.

The "Windows 10 installation has failed" message appears not long after starting the installation when it says about 6%.

I've attached a screenshot of the failure message as well as disk manager and the Panther folder which is curiously unpopulated (there's nothing in the two folders shown above). The Panther folder doesn't contain any error logs. However, on a previous installation attempt, I looked at an error log and it showed that it was not able to copy something from the installation disc to a location on C:/windows.

I have installed Windows 10 without problem on a number of other machines, but I'm stuck here on this one. By the way, no external drives or devices are attached to the machine. I've run chkdsk on the machine and the drive appears to be ok. I've tried doing this repair install from the DVD drive as well as by copying the .iso image to the desktop and mounting it in file explorer. The result is the same.

Thanks in advance for any ideas!

Some Windows 10 installation just get broke beyond repair, DISM repair doesn't work, SFC doesn't work, they won't update, upgrade, or refresh or repair install. The good news is, once the clean install is done I've never personally see a Windows 10 installation get to that point again.
