As WinUser said...... try it again , Clean it again , and Try the NEW Button instead of the Next Button instead...

Or you tried that too already maybe? Feather's way......

This issue seems to be if the Drv was once formatted MBR and you are now trying to Goto GPT , not sure if that is the case for you?

Silly question maybe is your bios in UEFI Mode ? so you can see GPT at boot

    KB! My man!

I did it first as Winuser said and i am waiting for the installation media to be created so i can try what feather said a second time with the factory seetings reset in Bios. The drive was originally MBR and i am trying to convert it to GPT. I have made sure i am in UEFI mode when i am in Windows installer. GPT does not display at the Asus UEFI boot menu just legacy and uefi boot options.

hmmmm is that another Clue ? ------------------------------------^^^^^^^^

Did you Clean the SSD and Then try installing Windows to the USB Key by accident instead of the SSD perhaps ?
Storage controller is set to ACHI by default. The system in my specs is the one in question and it is my girlfriends computer i recently built. I know she will be happy once its fixed!

I was sure to only select the drive as it is hard to mistake the size difference between the two (the SSD vs the Flashdrive [111gb vs 14gb]).

Ok..... it was the Error message that stated a "Media Drive Error" and then your comment that the USB was screwed that had me wondering... have not seen a SSD called a Media Drive before....

We couldn't install Windows in the location you chose. Please check your media drive. Here's more into about what happened: 0x80300002."

I usually get one chance to install windows from the installer on a USB. If i have to leave that instance and restart for any reason i usually am not able to boot into that usb again. This issue is causing alot of delays on my attempts to troubleshoot.

That should not happen ......... Bad USB Drive ? have you tried the USB2 ports (better) and the USB3 ports too? no difference

Is Fastboot and SecureBoot OFF in the Bios?

Or delete all the partitions on the Where do you want to install Windows? screen, until you only see Drive 0 Unallocated Space.

How to convert MBR disk to GPT disk (see screenshots below).

Note that you must boot from the Windows 10 USB/DVD in UEFI mode.

edit: Once you have deleted all the partitions from the HDD/SSD, you can also click the "Next" button without clicking the "New" button. The installation of Windows will begin. All the required partitions are created automatically during the install.

    Asus motherboard with UEFI firmware.
    - You do not need to change the default UEFI firmware settings, if you install Windows 10 64-bit in UEFI mode or Legacy BIOS mode.

Asus motherboard default UEFI firmware settings.
    - When you boot from the Windows 10 USB/DVD in UEFI mode (UEFI prefix in the boot menu), then Windows setup creates a GPT partitioned disk.
    - When you boot from the Windows 10 USB/DVD in Legacy BIOS mode (without UEFI prefix in the boot menu), then Windows setup creates a MBR partitioned disk.
Alright so heres the update boys and girls...

I attempted to do what Feather said above so very nicely and got a new error code. I first reset all Bios options to default (Bios is up to date). I went booted Windows installer in UEFI mode. When i came to the partition table part of windows installer the drive was showing an incorrect value of size. I opened up CMD prompt and ran a clean script for the select drive.

I then clicked new and this error code was kicked out.
"We couldn't create a new partition. [Error: 0xab24df70]."

Any Chance this SSD is BAD ? or security locked or something ?

Perhaps try HDD LowLevel Formatter 4.0 (free) and Wipe it Clean and try again

Their MHDD Program maybe able to tell if something else is wrong with the drive too...

So give her your SSD and use that one :)

And you tried it with only this SSD installed ? no other SATA SSD/HHD?DVD etc attached and on different Ports ?

I assume the MB sees it just fine then ?

still something weird if the USB Boot Drv is getting Wiped EVERY time you use it......

So this is a New Build all new components?

    Kbird!!!

I am currently using the HDD low format tool doing a full low-level format. We will see how it goes.

As for your idea about giving her my SSD...if only it were that easy. Tried it. I've been trouble shooting on this project for coming up on two months. Any working Hard Drive plugged into this computer refuses to install Windows. I have tried all SATA cables that have come from factory with each "new board." I've tried every RAM stick single loaded into the first slot.

All brand new components. I have sent 3 other boards back to NewEgg (3 z-97e), on my last rma request i submitted to be reimbursed for a different board (the z-97a). The odds of getting 4 bad boards in a row would be staggering...

I am praying this Low level format fixes it. My thoughts are there are blockes loaded on the SSD frozen to MBR that are somehow hidden.
