Anniversary Update on Acer Iconia Tab 8W

I have an Acer Iconia Tab8W Tablet which I recently upgraded from Windows 8 to Windows 10 successfully. I had to use a 32GB external Micro SD card as there was insufficient free hard drive space (It has only 32GB internal memory) which the upgrade routine catered for. I am now trying to install the Anniversary update from Microsoft but I am being asked to create enough space in the hard drive (at least 16GB) to do this. This is not possible without removing most if not all of the installed programs and apps. Is there no way I can update making use of the external 32 GB SD as I did before when upgrading from Windows 8.

Option One here is the best option to save an ISO file directly to you SD card:

Before upgrading my 32GB devices I run disc cleanup using option two here and selecting all of the options for cleanup:
Disk Cleanup - Open and Use in Windows 10 - Windows 10 Forums

Then mount the ISO file from the SD card in Windows and run setup.exe from it to do the upgrade.

Thanks NavyLCDR, You reply is quite complicated so I will have to set aside some time to go through it. I'll let you know how I get on in due course.

    Hi NavyLCDR
I have now had time to work through your suggestion using Option One. The download and Installation has gone reasonably well. There is one major problem however, I am unable to view my normal desktop. The computer opens up with my regular background picture but with a whole load of "tiles" superimposed. By right clicking the start icon and then clicking desktop I get my background picture on it's own and no desktop icons. I know they are there because I have seen them fleetingly when clicking on other things. Is there some setting I need to change in order to view my normal desktop again?

I wonder if it's defaulted into Tablet Mode.

Have a look at Option Two here and see what happens if you try those steps.

Thanks DavidY, your suggestion has worked! I tried Option Two and that reinstated Desktop Mode but only for the duration of that session on the computer. On the next startup it reverted to Tablet Mode. I then tried Option Two and that has resulted in the computer being permanently (unless I change it back) in Desktop Mode which suits me fine. I did not try Option Three as I am wary of making any changes to the Registry unless I really have to.
