One of the first programs you want to install after the installation is complete is Macrium. After the installation and Windows Updates are complete, make an image of the drive and verify it, putting it on an external drive for safe keeping. That way you can avoid doing a clean install in the future. Just restore the image. I do one image right after the install and updates and another after the install and my basic programs are installed. That gives you an option in the future of which one you want to restore. You should not have to do a clean install again (until the next major update anyway:) )

Thanks for the advice. We're on the same page on this one. I also use Macrium and make images of both drives every one, two or three days. I also change the image name so I include the date made and a description of the image and why it was made - if for something special (such as the times you suggest). I also have two USB 3 backup drives (and a USB 2 drive as a spare) so I actually make two images of each drive most of the time. I am anal when it comes to making backups.

Bravo for you! Most people don't know what an image is. Good job! If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

I've really made a mess of keeping this thread (or series of conversations) in order. I would like to learn the right way to post when there are more than one person I'm communicating with. You folks have provided some information valuable to me and I'd like to learn more - but I'm having a lot of trouble finding it because of the sloppy way I've posted,

Don't be so hard on yourself. It's not all of your fault. We have done much of the same. Just ask what you need and @simrick and I will find it for you or give it to you again.

You guys have been very kind to me and I certainly appreciate it. I sent a few other posts to you today - and I hope you received them. In some cases, I overwrote some old posts (sloppy) - but I hope it works. I'll have to learn somewhat in the posting department. So now that you (hopefully) know my drives better, where do I go from here?

First, any old post you edited or added to, we will not know about. Any new post we will be notified of. So, if you edited an older post, I don't know about it.

To start, I would download my Drivers and Installers of any software you want to install. I would get any Installation disks and activation codes for anything you have that will need to be installed. Think about what you need installed. You can run 1 Anti Virus, Malwarebytes (it is not an Antivirus, it's anti Malware). I would only install those programs you use often and need. make sure all software is compatible with Windows 10 as well as the drivers.

At least at this time, I would stay away from Avast. Just use the Windows Defender until we make sure you are running well.

How can I find the posts I made today that won't let you know I sent them? There must be a way to search for my name. All the info you requested is in those posts about my drives. That info may make you rethink the best way for me to do a clean install.
