    Windows 10 upgrade

    Hi

We have a Samusung RF510 laptop and cannot get win 10 to install it gets to 34% then switches itself off.
We did have it on a couple of months ago by having to change the wifi card to Ateros946x Wireless Network Adapter .
We had to do a zap and start again on the laptop and since then I can't get Win 10 on again , I have been trying for days now and it is the last day to day so I guess if I can't do it we will be stuck with wind 7 .
Anyone out there able to help with this such a pain .
I I don't get it sorted my husband is going to take the axe to it as he is fed up with it !!!!
There are 8 + 1 updates and it won't so those without switching off.

As the laptop is turning itself off it possibly is overheating.
What is the laptop resting on? Are the vents free of dust/fluff?
Try blowing compressed air into the vents & fan & raising the laptop away from what it usually resting on,

    Hi
Thanks for your reply , I have done all that and it sits on a stand with a fan .
It does seem a shame as it is a good i7 laptop and I know he will chop it up he is fed up with it .
    regards

Another thing you can try (if you haven't already) is removing the battery & running purely on external power/plugged in.

If it still went to 20% without the battery/on mains power then the problem isn't simple, I can't see the wifi being a problem if the power goes off but anything is worth a try.

Sounds like we're on the right track with the problem being dirt as it will now reach 72%.
Do you have a can of compressed air to clean out the vents? If not this is usually not recommended as it can damage components but as the laptop will be destroyed if it can't be fixed you can try using a Vaccuum cleaner to clean vents.

If you had Windows 10 installed and activated a couple months ago, then there is no deadline. You can reinstall Win10 at any time and it will activate.

When you start the upgrade, it asks if you want to install updates. Say No, or Skip, or place a check mark in the box that says "Not at this time". I can't remember exactly but don't update at the start. Windows will update itself once the upgrade is finished. That should speed things up. Good luck.
