    Windows 10 couldn't be installed. Code 80240016.

While installing the Windows 10 updates and finished it and it made until to 100%, but I received an error.

    "Windows 10 couldn't be installed

    Code 80240016"

Then, I found a solution to my problem and I followed it by unchecking the Turn real-time protection in Windows Defender and, luckily, it worked, but the moment I started upgrading it, it went back to 0%. It took me a loooong while waiting for it to be 100%, now I have to do it again. This is really annoying. Can you guys help me? I don't want to wait again since I have a very slow internet connection.

The error has to do with Windows Defender.

You need to just download the .iso for Windows 10 and do a Clean Install.

It is an error that has been around since Windows 7.

Is it possible to not wait again then just continue it with 100% instead of waiting for the updates to install?

So, it's not possible for me to continue upgrading to Windows 10 even though it was already 100% completed, but Windows Defender ruined it for me now I have to wait for it to 100% again? Jfc.

Are you running any other AV software on your Windows 8.1 ?? or some firewall ....other than Windows default ?? If you are, you should remove them, completely and then try your upgrade again.

Nope. I no longer have any AV software. I'm gonna give it a try again.

Install Everything Search. Let it start after install to build it's index. Normally takes 10 to 15 seconds.
In the input area, enter install.esd. If it shows you one, you can use the ESDtoISO tool to create a .ISO file which you can then mount and install from.

    Windows 10 couldn't be installed. Code 80240016.-install.esd.jpg

To mount the ISO, right click on it and select Mount. That will open a File Explorer window with the contents of the ISO file shown. Double click on setup.exe to start the upgrade.

Did you install Everything and search from there?

Don't wait, download the iso as Bro67 mentioned in post #2 then you can do an upgrade or clean install. Follow the directions here:
    Windows 10 ISO Download

Follow either of these to install Windows 10 as an upgrade or clean install.:
    Windows 10 - Upgrade Installation
    Windows 10 - Clean Install

Well, it happened again. This made me want to not to upgrade to Windows 10 anymore. I've had enough!
