update from Windows 7 to 10, now go to Windows 8.1

Hello,
I had problems with frequent blue screens on my HP Pavilion dv7 (original OS Windows 7) which is why I updated to Windows 10. The bluescreen problems disappeared but due to other reasons I would like to change to Windows 8.1 which I recently purchased.
Is that even possible? And if yes, what do I need to know? Will there be issues with drivers, etc.?

I see a clean W8.1 install in your immediate future. As for drivers etc. best way would be to look at HP site but generally, drivers for W8/8.1 would be same or compatible with drivers for W10.
