How to dual boot Win 10 & win 7 after win 7 updated to win 10?

How to dual boot Win 10 & win 7 after win 7 updated to win 10?

OK, maybe my title is confusing, but I am wondering if it is possible to first upgrade my present win 7 OS to win 10 than do a clean install of win 10, then dual boot with a fresh install of win 7 in a dual boot configuration? Reason behind this is that if I just upgrade to win 10 only, I will have to buy a new scanner, fax modem, printer and various software programs that are presently not compatible with win 10 because drivers are not available for my devices. I'm trying to minimize the cost of upgrading to Windows 10 and still have the capability of using my devices and old software programs with win 7. I hope I am clear on this. I would appreciate any suggestions or comments and if problems could rear their ugly heads on doing this. Thanks. NOTE I'd like to do this before July 29, 2016 to take advantage of a free upgrade to win 10

The first step to do what you want to do is to purchase a second license for Windows 7, 8, 8.1 or 10. Your current license for Windows is valid for only 1 installed copy of Windows and you want to expand that to two installed copies.

Once you purchase the second, full retail license (product key) for Windows, then setting up dual booting is easy:

Also, note this regarding "OEM" licenses for Windows, which retailers sell cheaper than full retail licenses:
Windows system builder licensing for personal use

If you are building a system for your personal use or installing an additional operating system in a virtual machine, you will need to purchase a full version of Windows 10, available in FPP. Windows 10, Windows 8.1, and Windows 7 system builder software does not permit personal use, and is intended only for preinstallation on customer systems that will be sold to end users.
