    Hello Georgia,

It's up to you, but if you wanted Windows 10, then you could go ahead and upgrade to get your free Windows 10, and get a digital entitlement of Windows 10 for that PC.

This way you could go back to Windows 8 if wanted, and be able to reinstall Windows 10 when you like.

If you do this, don't rely on the roll back feature as it sometimes does not work.

Create a backup image of your existing Windows 8.1 install using Macrium Reflect Free to an external USB hard drive ($60US for a 1TB drive). Once you have that, then upgrade to 10. If any problems, simply restore the backup image and your up and running again.

Brink thanks for your reply and help. I've read all the comments on
"Going back " this is way too complicated for me to even think I can do this.
I'll just have to lose the FREE try .

    Georgia,

OPTION TWO is the easiest way to go back to the previous Windows if you wanted to upgrade to your free Windows 10 to lock it in. If you have any questions about it, I'll be happy to help. :)
