Windows to go - Windows 10 (any version) now working !!

    Hi there

    1) Download the LATEST version of WINTOUSB (free one). Should be V3.

2 )Ensure you have the ISO for Win 10 -- I suggest the ISO created by media creation tool from Ms.

    3) Use a decent USB2 with sata-->USB2 connector such as an old laptop HDD or better a USB3 HDD with USB3-->Sata connector. Standard USB3 HDD also good.

    4) run the WINTOUSB application

    5) use image file created from Ms Media creation tool as windows image file

    6) choose version of windows

    7) wait about 30 mins or so until job finishes

    Boot HDD !!!

    Have fun

Works fine with W10 x-64 PRO -- even activated !!!! with digital entitlement --now that's a surprise !!!!!

Note I haven't used a USB stick but external USB HDD's -- IMO far superior for this type of stuff --an old laptop HDD or even better an old SSD if you have one is ideal for this --response time of HDD is fine.

This is also IMO better than a dual boot too --since you don't have to mess up with boot partitions / boot managers / boot menus and preserves any internal HDD's intact.

    Cheers

    Hi there
    @badrobot

Actually fine -- not much different to booting up from a Native boot (HDD not SSD).
Note though I'm using a 7200 RPM old laptop HDD so it's probably a bit faster than the standard model.

System is perfectly useable --runs Photoshop and office just fine. The Laptop has an Intel I5 processor (Intel Core (M) i5-6200U @ 2.30 Ghz and 8GB RAM.

External Hitachi HDD -- Laptop HDD (not SSD) 7200 RPM 320 GB. Feb 2010 model (old but works fine) model HTS723232L9A360 (7K320-320) - note might use more power than newer models --5V 800MA so connect preferably to charging USB port.

It's faster of course with USB 3 connector but fine on USB 2 -- even USB2 connected to USB 3 port. Don't have any USB2 standard ports on the laptop 3 X USB3.

    Cheers
