Only problem I've had with the links is they don't work with Firefox, not allowed to sign in. Exact same URL [copied and pasted] works fine with Internet Explorer 11.

Macrium reflect gives a message: SP3 is needed on XP sytem, installation aborted.

the laptop has SP2, where can I find a offline SP3 as windows update doesnt work anymore.

Oops - since Windows XP support has ended, you can't download SP3 from Microsoft. I would think a bootable version of Macrium Reflect Free would work. There is Macrium Reflect Free included on Kyhi's recovery drive:

This should get you the 316MB file for installing SP3:
Download Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 3 - MajorGeeks

I found one, dutch version , or is language not important? anyway, took me some time to isntall SP3, (first time an error and it rolled back, second time it installed SP3).

then macrium free, an error while making the rescue media, it seems after looking to it in google, the FAT32 has to be revert to ntfs, ok done it.

finaly tested the resque media, it works, no the backup is buzzy, almost done.

pff, error after error. ok, I wanted to boot from my other usb stick that contains the windows 10 OS. but this usb stick doesn't show up at in the bios . tested it in startup, but nothing.

it's a usb stick with a large GB (128GB). Could that be the cause?

Now I have to start all over again using the tool to make a bootbale usb or can I just copy and paste the content of the 128Gb stick to another , smaller stick?

I've seen where such a Thumb drive has to be formatted as FAT32, not NTFS, and Windows has issues with drives larger than 32GB and FAT32 formatting.

thanks, correct, it's formatted in fat32, arrgh. anyway, started again with the media creation tool, now windows 10 is been downloading. at the same time I'm coping the files to a little (8gb, tested and worked) usb stick. slow coping but will get there before the download is finished, to give it a try if it boots on the xp.

copying it to little usb, then boot, but black screen stays, so this way didn't work.

started all over again with littel usb , booted , ok, installation is also finished.

Can I assume that is instalation is finisched, that all is ok?

As i read on forums that some had problems during intallation and could go further.
