Hey guys, so I was trying to do a clean install, via USB installation method.
- First downloaded windows 10 64 ISO
- Used rufus to create the bootable USB
- restarted the PC, and then hit f12, got the boot menu
- booted from the USB, but then immediately got an error about a corrupted driver iStorV.sys.
Does anyone have an idea what that error means? I would prefer to have a PC that works fine, without issues. I have backed up all the data, so can completely wipe out and do a brand new install.
P.S I couldn't even do a factory restore.
So I have been toying with the idea of installing Linux Mint, instead of trying to install win 10. Has anyone done that? yay or nay?
and how do you like it? from what I understand, I can run windows apps using the emulator, and that's what I really need!
I liked it so much that I have 10 computers in my house running Windows 10 with no trace of Linux on any of them. Linux is fun, if you want to invest the time to make it work. Windows is just too easy and versatile for me. You might get more support for Linux on an actual Linux forum.
Dinesh, I have installed Linux on two different computers.
The first was in the 1990´s. It was almost as powerful an operating system as DO at the time..
The second was about ten years ago. Other than some good mid-range games, it was inferior to Windows XP.
When all is said and done, Linux has had plenty of time to displace Windows, and it can't even come close.
hey guys, so I managed to do a clean install of the windows 10! and it seems to be working. I didn't have to take any additional steps after the install, and my version says it's activated! not sure why, but no complaints here!
Thanks all.
