    Pressing the populate button will dispay the partition style and other data. Why it would need to be disabled I don't understand.
    I see odd questions like this in all the Designer Media forums and wonder if someone wants to learn things to create malware. There's no other use for such knowledge, or is there?

    Very possible.. ask a seemingly legitimate question and use it for hacking purposes??

    But then again not all hacking is bad... I mean there are probably legit uses. Could bet a software dev only wants certain information and not all to show/be used by program.

    You use this to make sure someone is using GPT or MBR partitioning.
    You can also use Disk Manangement to display the partition style

    View menu -> Top
    Select Disk List

    Back to the topic: I'm not aware of any way to disable the function of "populate" under the properties menu.
    I'd guess that this would be a group policy or registry change to disable the button - sorry I couldn't be more help DJ.

    Does this applies to GPT/SSD only? Because I do not have populate button.
    Just wondering, because if I should have it, then it probably can be disabled.

    Your shot shows it already populated, but I would think the populate button would show as greyed out. I did some google-fu but can not find an answer.

    That's because they are already populated. There are different ways to view in windows. 1. through disk management 2. Device management 3. Devices & Printers like this screen shot:
