    I know that. But I would define a couple of partitions smaller tham 2.2TBs.

    The point is the SUM of ALL partitions is 2.2 TB - this is defined by the MBR that can only access up to 2.2TB - there is only one MBR without special software.

    No - it is irrelevant.

    You are confusing the fact that you cannot use a gpt drive to boot from in legacy bios, which restricts drive size to 2.2TB but you can use the 3TB drive as a gpt formatted drive in legacy bios if you do not put OS on that drive.
