    Release Preview "Ring" does exist!

I got on a crusade and finally got there! Kept wondering what the "Release Preview" ring looked like if you could get there from here. Here's how I spent my morning...

Installed VMware. Created a VM on an ext 3.0 and installed 10240, fresh from MS, using a NEW Outlook account. Let it go thru all it's gyrations and it upgraded to 10586.104. Activated it with original OEM key. Clicked "Get Insider Builds". Went thru some hoop-jumping, re-booted, and this is what I got. Guess it works....have to fire up the VM occasionally to see if any updates.

As far as I can remember, that screenshot you posted has been in existence way before the " Release Preview Ring" was announced.

I don't think that is it.
There is no mention of "Release Preview" anywhere in that page.

Your screenshot shows the words "Release Preview :"
I don't have that above the blue slider.

I understand. This was only a test, on my part, on a separate OS, to see if I could get the "current" branch (10240 & 10586) to give the new option of Release Preview. Anything past 10586 will not see this, not supposed to. This relatively new, last couple weeks. It's in Gabe's blog here.... Now I am more confused than when I first read about the Release Preview from the other thread.
That thread was posted when most of use Insiders have already 10586 installed.

What is the confusing part? It's plain and simple: The Release Preview ring is only visible and available to Insiders who have the latest official build released for the general public ("outsiders") installed. At the moment it is the TH2 v.1511.

Selecting the Release Preview ring does not download nor does it let user to upgrade to the latest Fast or Slow ring builds but will only receive updates to the current build not yet released to the general public. In other words, whereas the Slow and Fast rings are to test new versions of Windows 10 (new builds), the Release Preview is to test new updates for the latest official build.

Get a whisky, coffee or any beverage you'd prefer, enjoy it a moment or two, relax and reset the brain, lean back in your chair and read again the first paragraph of my previous post:
