Windows 10 ToGo without Windows 8.1 Enterprise
Hello,
I try unsuccessfully to create a Windows ToGo drive with the Technical Preview from my Windows 8.1 Pro
I tried several software as WinToUSB or gimagex but it's impossible to boot while it works perfectly with using a Windows 8.1 iso.
I also followed the HowTo from howtogeek.com ...
Any idea or suggestions to help me ?
Thanks in advance for your help !
Best regards

Still doesn't work ...
I have a fatal error while booting after 30 sec of loading.
Tried with 2 different iso

Did you format the stick as shown in Step #4 of my tutorial.
-
Yes, it worked perfectly with 8.1 ToGo ...
It's an external SSD not a stick but it doesn't make a difference

Right, stick or SSD is the same. I made both - even an external HDD, but that is slower.

Tried with another computer and same problem.
May my 2 iso be damaged ...
The whole process took me 10 mins ... maybe something is wrong ?

Hi there
I think to make a proper Windows to go (W10) you need the ENTERPRISE version -- it's a FREE download currently. The Boot command has changed so I don't think the same method as used in a NON enterprise version of Win 8.1 will work for Win 10. I believe there's a new WAIK available for W10 which might work but otherwise I think you'll just have to grab the enterprise version.
My solution which works really well from an external SSD is to install VMware player on a very small LINUX system and then bring up Windows VM. That way you can run ANY version of Windows !! and you don't have to re-activate when it's run on different hardware.

Hello,
Hopefully I have 2 external disks ...
I made a 1st one with Win 8.1 Enterprise booted on it and then from this one I prepared the Win10 (using the tutorial from whs ) ...
Had a fatal error on the first boot with Win10 but then it works fine.
Thanks for your help!
