    Win 10 upgrade dilemma

    Hi,

I originally used the sysprep method (from eightforums) to move my user profile to a different drive (E: drive) in win 8.1. My dilemma is do I move my user profile back to the C: drive (win drive) before upgrading to win 10 ? or just upgrade as it would seem this is possible if I have understood correctly.
Can any one tell me the pros and cons of both methods to help me to decide what to do please?
    Thanks.

I can't think of any benefits in relocating it back unless you wanted to do it anyway irrespective of the upgrade. If you want your user folders to remain on the E drive, to move them back, upgrade, then relocate them back again is a lot of effort for no gain (and there is always the risk of making a typo and having to repeat steps).

If you look at this thread Users Folder - Move Location in Windows 10 - Page 8 - Windows 10 Forums there are plenty of people that upgraded without relocating back first. (There are a lot of comments to trawl through but no-one had a problem, including me).

Similarly once on 10 you don't need to relocate back before doing an in-place upgrade or upgrading the release build.

You would have to relocate ProgramData directory back if you had moved it though - but that was only possible on Windows 7 and earlier anyway as far as I remember.
