How about including a picture of your Disk Management window?
I show a 350 MB System Reserved partition.

I believe if the drive is already partitioned with one partition, and you don't do a custom install, you'll just get the one partition. If you go custom, it will automatically add the other system partitions.
Alpha, when I do a clean install, I delete everything down to the bare bones brand new drive right off the show room floor. Once that's done, I then follow the yellow brick road and finally it'll tell me it's most likely gonna take some hard drive for itself. I continue on and that's what it does.

I don't believe I've ever done a custom install, but the more I think about it, what I just described seems to be a custom install.

Soooooooo, I'll get StarFerret's 15.6 lappy out (she still has 9879 installed) and do a clean install. Then I can check my brain.

OMGoodness! I just got a notification that Radio Shack has filed for bankruptcy!

    Thanks,
I once again re-installed and again the reserve partition was not created :/
    Very weird sheet going on.
    Cheers.
    3 questions:
    1. How many disks in your machine, HDD,SSD?
    2. Are (any) of them 'dynamic disks'?
    3. Can you post a shot of Disk Management?

I only run one hdd or sdd at a time there are no extra drive slots mother board does not support multiple disks although I do have a evo dual ssd case the lower slot is not powered it's only for storing the other ssd,
9926 is going on my laptops old hdd it fits in the dual ssd case,

I have installed the prior build 996? on it and it did create the 350mb partition

Last I checked it was ntfs formatted with diskpart,
At the moment I'm running a full scan with mini tool recovery wizard to see what it finds so far,

Okay I rechecked 8.1 and it does have the 350mb had to use mini tool to actually see it possibly 10 hides it too ?
But then again I couldn't even find disk management in 8.1 I hate that nasty os.
Thrash, right click on the Start icon and you will see a whole bunch of things. Disk Management is about midway down the menu (#8 I think). I'm looking at the one on Windows 10, but I'm pretty sure this one's brought forward from Windows 8.1.

I'm on win-7 and have already removed 10 again so getting on 10 is not possible
But I am noticing the odd hdd size 232.9 gb
I could of sworn this is a 250gb drive :/

That's about right, Thrash. Mine's a 250 GB drive and shows 232.54 GB plus the 350 MB Reserve.

Okay thanks for confirming the size,
I would expect that from an ssd but not a hdd ;/

If you deleted partitions during the install you did a custom install. At some point you get the "Install Now" screen, then the enter your key screen, and then the Upgrade Windows or Custom install option. < If Windows was already installed on that PC. It's may be slightly different if the drive is blank. What partitions get automatically created depends on whether the PC has UEFI or not. You get the System Reserved for legacy, Recovery and EFI for UEFI BIOS.

    That sounds correct Alpha,
Unfortunately it's not working out like that,
I'm tempted to install one of the prior builds to see what happens
There are no other partitions and I did format the one 232.9 gb it showed during the custom install
It's just not creating the reserve anymore
Possibly it's the drive or I do know the bios is very old but I've installed every build and it's been created except for 9926.
Win8 also created it and that was about a week ago but that was on a new ssd,
    Cheers.
