    HP laptop sleep mode

Hi - Just installed Win10 on my 4 yr old HP G60535D. Now I have have to re-boot everytime I shut the lid. Played around with power settings, etc etc but no love. When I first open the lid, I can hear the computer running, a slight mechanical burp of some sort, then nothing...totally blank screen. I have to hold the power button down to shut it off, then re-boot. A 1st world problem for sure, but kind of irritating. Any suggestions?
    Thanks in advance!

    Try shutting it down by
    Right click the start button
Then Scroll to Shut down and sign out
    Then click >
That will bring up 4 options
    Then click SHUT DOWN

That is the way I do it
As the way you seem to do it you are only putting it to sleep

What did you do with the Power Options and what exactly do you want ?

Do you want to put the computer to Sleep mode when you close the lid ?
If yes, go back to your Power Options > left side, click Choose what closing the lid does > right side, at When I close the lid, make sure you set it at Sleep > click Save changes when done.

My screenshot is from my laptop.

If however, you want to computer to Shut down, which I don't think what is you are asking anyway, you will then click the pointer and select Shut down.

Thank you for your replies. I want the computer to go into sleep mode when I shut the lid. My settings are just like your image. But when I reopen the lid, the screen stays blank. I have to hold down the power button till it shuts down, then reboot. This has only started with the recent installation of Win 10. For now I have the settings on "Do Nothing", but I don't need the computer to be on all the time. It seems like Win10 has introduced a glitch into the onboard HP power management s/w (??).

...............For now I have the settings on "Do Nothing"........................
    I wouldn't recommend that.
IF Sleep mode does not work, which I don't understand why not, set it to Shut down when closing the lid.
Don't set it at "do nothing". You are draining the battery.

    makvic,

It might be because your user account is corrupted.

Create another user account with the same privileges as this one > log on to it > set you power options > see if it goes to sleep mode when you close the lid.
If it does, then your original account is corrupted. Backup the files you want to keep > then delete the corrupt account.
