    Stuck on build 9841

Just installed last night, and seem to be stuck on the old build. Anyone have any ideas? No windows updates available either.

I'm wondering if this is related. I saw several places mentioning fbl_release, but that fbl_awesome would have all the future updates. Maybe I got shifted to fbl_awesome too early? should I try changing to fbl_release? and then change back after I update there? I confirmed that fbl_release has an update available, but I'm not sure if that's a safe way to go.

Hello Flyingmoose, and welcome to Ten Forums.

If you like, you could download a direct copy of the 9879 ISO file from Microsoft below to install with. :)

    Hi and welcome to TenForums,
This could be a blessing :)
Review this and know what might happen and it might be best to wait for the new build to be released later this month and do a clean install of it then,

I saw the posts about the 'bricking' hard drives and it looked like they were related to old motherboards/hard drives. (as per the post you linked in that thread: build 9879 bricking drives!!!! - Microsoft Community) Not something that applies to me.

Since I was looking at a probable reinstall, I downloaded the up to date iso's and created a new install usb just in case, then decided to go ahead and set my branch name back to "fbl_release" and it let me update to see what would happen. It successfully updated me to 9879 and it then automatically reset the branch name back to the fbl_awesome1501 via the KB update (don't recall the number, don't care). No issues so far, thanks for the help.

same issues here. There is something broken on my machine with the searching for new preview builds. I am on 9879 on 17/4/2015, when I boot up, there's a warning saying that my build is out of date, and that it will keep restarting, but when I follow all of the suggestions, such as renaming registry key to fbl_release, fbl_awesome1501, etc, clicking 'check now' in preview builds, rebooting over and over, etc, I *always* get the same message:

"No new preview build was found, please try again later".

I have a feeling something hosed this install, perhaps when I paused the VM while it was downloading.

So far I'm frustrated with windows 10. I want lots of text output telling me exactly what it's doing so that I can start to debug it. Instead I get the sanitised messages for technophobes. Can you run these dumbed down apps from the console, with '--verbose' enabled, or something like that? That's what I feel like I need!

"Please try again later". How many times am I supposed to believe that actually waiting is the solution?

Currently downloading a newer iso, and I'll wipe the install completely and go from there.

From 9926 to 10041 I had to go for a clean install. Why don't you download 10041 ISO and try to upgrade to 10049.
