This turned out to be quite the thread, Wolfgang. You sure got people riled up with that title.

Looking through Shawn's tutorial on clean install using the custom choice (Step 7):
In step 17 > What would happen if one simply presses "Next" on that screen without filling anything in (seen below)? Turning everything off in the 3 previous screens? I simply haven't got the time to experiment with it.
Brief answer - nothing. You remain on the same screen.
Thanks for the quick answer, Dave. :)

Are you sure? It looks like the button is lit to push. Did you experiment with turning off all slides in the previous 3 screens by any chance? Remember this is a fresh and custom install.

Somewhere along the line one has to connect to the internet, which is another factor. I know what happens if one doesn't connect physically. I wonder what happens if one doesn't connect during the install process only to connect at a later time. It must change the install process.

    Thanks again. :)

I know for me, if I mistype my e-mail or password, I'll get a message telling me my e-mail or password is incorrect or invalid. I don't remember exactly what it said, I've only seen it once or twice when I make a typo. My guess is you'll get the same message if you leave them blank. It's the equivalent to leaving your username blank when installing say Windows 7. Something you can't do.

    Hi there

You can install W10 with ZERO connection to the Internet.

Eventually for activation - OK - but simply type in in admin mode SLUI 3 and enter the W10 product code depending on whether it's ENTERPRISE or the NON ENTERPRISE version. System will activate -- no emails, no checks ZERO !!!!!!. Works fine. I've installed W10 about 9 times so far in various configurations - not a smidgen of a problem in using a Local account or activating via the SLUI 3 command.

Since both were FREE for testing I chose the ENTERPRISE version since I also wanted to mess around with the Windows to Go system.

    Cheers

I've yet to see you start a frivolous thread, Wolfgang.
