Upgraded to Windows 10 from 32 bit to 64 bit Product Key Problem

So basically I Upgraded to Windows 10 from 32 bit to 64 bit because there was a problem on my computer's memory showing only 2.2gb usable which I made a thread about here 2.2gb Usable out of 4gb RAM. - Windows 10 Forums

So I was just successful in clean installing the 64bit but the problem now is, my OS is not activated. It's looking for a product key. So how do I get my OS to be genuine again? Will recovering the files in the windows.old backup folder solve the problem?

    Hi,

Go to Control Panel/System. At the bottom right hand side you'll see change product key.
Click on that and feed it the following generic key : VK7JG-NPHTM-C97JM-9MPGT-3V66T

This should allow it to activate assuming the previous 32 bit version was.

    Cheers,

    wyeksdi,

If you installed Windows 10 Home by mistake, the product key posted above will trigger the upgrade to Pro and it will activate based on your previous installation of Pro.

Also, did you install the same edition that you had before? There is Windows 10 (standard), Windows 10 Single Language Edition, and Windows 10 N. You have to stay with the same edition.

I had the previous windows 10 32bit before from the free upgrade so I'm not quite sure about the versions you're talking about sir @navy and it was pro so I installed using using an iso burned on aa DVD ofthe 64bit of it. I will try the generic key when I get home thanks!
