I'm pretty sure 32 bit Windows 8 (not 8.1) is the last you can run without NX.

I've got several problems with this very old Dell Inspiron I8200 PC (NOT the PC in my specs):
    • It has no working DVD Drive
    • It doesn't support boot from USB
    • Trying to install 10586 from a USB in Windows 7 said "This PC's processor doesn't support a critical feature (NX).

    Should I give up?
Can you toggle NX in the BIOS?

If not just run the MCT Setup.

Really? This thread gets merged when the subject and content are different? I was trying to make the topic more useful! The original tread was "Make 32-bit DVD of 32/64 bit ISO?" but went off topic to "Clean Install on Old PC with no DVD Drive or USB Boot?", so surely a new thread is correct?

    Which says ...
I got the setup running without this error after "bcdedit /set {current} nx alwayson" + reboot

OK thanks, I'll give it a try.

I think you also need it turned on in BIOS (if you can) and your CPU needs to support it. You have a pentium 4 right? Probably, but not definitely, it doesn't.

There are some workarounds here Will Windows 8 run on my Pentium 4 PC - Page 3

If it is Pentium 4 socket 478 (Prescott), then only one or two models support NX and these need support in BIOS as well which is even rarer for socket 478. If it is socket 775 or newer, then it should support NX, unless it is one of the first series (500 or 600 series).

There is a way to hack some system files and install Windows 8 or 10 in a Pentium 4 socket 478 (without NX support) but then you will have to select the troubleshooting screen at each startup and then press 7 (do not enforce driver signature, test mode). I have tried once but nothing worked to make these selections permanent. At every restart I had to select troubleshoot and then press 7 to load Windows and this is not very convenient. Of course we are talking about Windows 10 32-bit only. 64-bit are not supported by a Prescott CPU.

Read all the procedure here. For Windows 10 set 1 in the imagex command for Pro, 2 for installing Home:
