Not legal by the way. It was licensed to that organization and they are not allowed to resell Enterprise licenses. Activation will likely time out to if it's KMS activated. You may want to run showkey, https://www.tenforums.com/software-ap...7-showkey.html and see if it has a Windows 8/8.1 OEM embedded key. If it does you can clean install Windows 10 (10586 build) and it will read and use it, and activate with it. Once that's done you'll have a fully legal digital entitlement for Windows 10 for that PC. All perfectly legal. If it has a Windows 7 COA sticker on it with a product code, that key can also be used to install and activate Windows 10.

You're likely going to have a hard time finding an ISO for Enterprise. MSDN is subscription only and the Media Creation Tool does not offer Enterprise, and will not upgrade Enterprise. Getting it from other sources like bit torrent is risky. More often than not those ISO's are modified in a bad way and not safe to use.

Totally agree. That company should have wiped the disk prior to selling the machine.

Depending on the type of company, I wonder how much privacy act protected data was/is on it.

    Hi,

It's about reselling a machine with an Enterprise license on it, not about the company's data (if any at all) you see ?

IOW, is an Enterprise license transferable etc.... ??

mswin10, please don't take my earlier comments the wrong way. I did not mean to imply that you were doing anything illegal or pass judgment on you personally. You bought the PC in good faith. The seller is the one that screwed up. We will be more than happy to help you sort it out if you want. You may get lucky and it stays activated. At some point though, if you have to reinstall, its going to be an issue. You will definitely want to sort it out before the free upgrade to Windows 10 offer runs out.

Wrong. It is about both. It is equally illegal to disclose persons' data protected under the privacy act as it is to transfer the enterprise license for the software with the computer.
