How to start the free windows 10 upgrade on my laptop

    Hello everyone.
HP laptop running windows 7 home premium.

I click on the little windows 10 icon and I recieve a message reading "Thanks for reserving your copy".
I started this a couple of weeks ago.

How to I "force" the upgrade to occur ?

    Or isn't that possible ?
I simply need to wait until MS is ready ?
Cuz lots of folks are doing the same time and I just need to wait my turn ?

    Thanks

I would wait a bit more.
There is also a compatibility issue that prevents Windows Update from downloading Windows 10.

That said, there is also another way to install Windows 10.

Use the link below and down load the Media Creation Tool. Make sure you pick the correct bit-version.
    http://www.microsoft.com/en-ca/softw...load/windows10

    Then run the tool
    excerpt :

    1. Run the tool, if you didn't already select Run. (You need to be an Administrator on the PC to run it.)
    2. If you're upgrading this PC, select Upgrade this PC now, and then follow the instructions to finish the upgrade.
      –or–
If you want to create media for a different PC, select Create installation media for another PC. Use this table to choose the edition of Windows 10 that you want to create media for.

    Thanks for the reply.

I'll follow your advice and do both.
I wait till the end of the week (Friday methinks) and then if I get the same verbiage when I click on the icon, I'll follow the link you kindly provided.

    Thanks once again.

    Done !
    And things worked perfectly.
    Not a single hitch.
All of my previously installed apps continue to run.

    Thanks again.

    You are the greatest.
