Win10 doesn't start, not even with recovery mode

    Hi everyone.
Yesterday I made an update from AVG, which needed the pc to be restarted. I did restarted it, and during the update it gave me an error page starting with " " and after it...my pc wouldn't work anymore.
When I started it, it started with the black page showing pc components information and after that another black screen with a _ on the top left of the screen going on and off forever.
Then I maneged to put Win10 driver in a Usb drive and I tried to boot from it, and it entered Recovery mode. Here I followed a guide which told me to select "Troubleshoot", then "advanced options" and finally "startup settings".
The only problem is...there is no "startup settings".There's everything else but not startup settings, so I can't even try to make it work.
How can i make my PC work again? can anybody help me? I'm kinda desperate

What you describe sounds like you got a blue screen and after that Windows would no longer boot up.

I am not completely sure what exactly this error is. Since this happens really early in the booting of the PC, this could mean that the boot sector is somehow damaged.

It might be an idea to do a system restore now in order to restore a known working version of your installation.

Startup settings will not be available, if you boot from a USB drive or from a Windows DVD.
    We have this tutorial:
Advanced Startup Options - Boot to in Windows 10 - Windows 10 Forums
which basically tells you that you do not come to startup settings right now.

Another option on how to get that screen is to abort booting a few times by hitting Ctrl-Alt-Del. This will make Windows think that it would be unable to boot and bring up startup options as well - however, as to what you write, it might stop too early so that you do not reach the point where this would work.

I have now looked that up for you: Startup settings are not what you want.

When you boot from the USB drive, go to "Troublehsoot" > "Advanced options".
Inside that menu there are two options, which might be helpful for you:
    • System Restore
    • Startup Repair

Maybe start with startup repair first. If that does not help, try doing a system restore.

I tried to do both of the things you sais, but none of them worked. I'm not completely sure of what a system restore is, maybe I tried to do it but it didn't work. Now I'll try this tutorial you gave me and let you know, thank you so much!

Check your update history as this might also be to do with KB3105208, see here

I doubt that the tutorial will help, as you will not be able to come to Startup Settings in your situation.

A system restore is the same thing, which you can also do from inside Windows: It allows you to reset the programs on the PC to a certain point in time, e.g. to the point before you installed a certain program or driver. This might help as you should then be able to go back to some point before the AVG update.

Startup repair seems to be an option as I think that it will be less invasive, e.g. it should not reset all programs while it might fix the issue as well.

What are the errors you are getting?
