Yep... as long as the version matches

I reviewed my options and I think I'll stick to the 10 Edu version. Anyway, where can I download the english version? Or am I stuck with the german?
P.S.: If needed, I could install 8.1 Pro just to check if language matters.

The only place I've seen the Education version is MSDN. I have a subscription though. Only English is offered for me. I haven't seen a free download site for that version. The Media Creation Tool doesn't include that version.

Hopefully you will come back and tell us good news that I was wrong about Product Keys being language specific!

Just a FYI, I was running 10 Pro and went to change key, then entered my Education key, and it upgraded to the Education version. No reinstalling, and no install media needed. It kept the same language I was already using English. I don't know if it works from 10 Home though? You can do the same thing and go from 10 Pro to Enterprise too.

Well according to this site, https://www.microsoft.com/en-ca/Wind...siness/Compare you can easy upgrade from Home to Education. So one way to get the English version is to install 8.1 Core SL English using the embedded key, then do the free upgrade to 10 Home. Then just enter your Education key via change key. No having to install any German language version at all.

Did you run showkey to see if your OEM key is 8.1 Core or 8.1 Core SL?

I am downloading the english version that I found (en_windows_10_education_x64_dvd_6848120). Will check the sums upon downloading. And I also need a clean install, but thank you anyway, didn't know that.

What's the difference between the 2?

Difference between the 2 as in Core and Core SL? For one the keys they accept are different. Core will not accept a SL key and vice versa. There may be other differences but I'm not up to speed on what they are. It came to light when people tried to do clean installs and wondered why the OEM key wasn't being accepted. They just didn't know their key was a SL key and not a full Core key. My laptops key is a regular 8.0 Core key, that lets me use my MSDN ISO's with no issue.
