Thank you very much, you've been very helpful. Do language packs translate absolutely everything?

I wasn't aware they were language specific? First I've heard of that, other than the Single Language version having its own set of keys?

That has carried forward through Windows 8 and 10.

I have no experience with language packs, can't help you with that.

Hmm, I wouldn't exactly call that official confirmation. I can't prove or disprove it myself so I'll take your word for it. If I was in the OP's situation I think I'd try it anyway. You could always start over with the correct language version for that key if it doesn't work with an English ISO.

I clean installed 7 Ultimate in English (was OEM Pro French upgraded to Ultimate through WAU). I didn't need another key (but WAU keys are retail anyway). Language packs don't translate absolutely everything - device descriptions and internal accounts remain in the original system language for example (and sometimes get duplicated) - that is why I re-installed in English - it looked a mess and there is no way to change system language.

Someone else here recently was having problems installing programs in different languages but this may only apply to Asian languages. I had no problem with that. Run Japanese Programs in English Windows 10 - Windows 10 Forums

My MSDN keys are just listed as Retail keys. There is nothing stating they are language specific. I can only download English US or English UK though on MSDN. My Windows 8/8.1 MSDN ISO's will read an use OEM embedded keys automatically too. Anyway, will have to wait and see what the OP does/try's.

I'm downloading the English ISO and will try the German key. Let's see how it goes.

Just a heads up... Keys are version specific - no matter what single language, it's still a Core SL key.

That's what I was thinking. I just don't do enough installs to know that stuff 100%. I don't work in IT and I'm retired.
