Installation hung on 'Just a Moment'

You could be running an eSata drive if not simply having tossed the drive 7 is on into a separate enclosure. Some have both usb and eSata capability. You didn't specify which type it was when mentioning it earlier. It might still be posing a problem however.

As for booting live I was mentioning with 10 media not the MC Tool used to create it! With the tool you have the options for the instant online type upgrade, see a usb flash drive made up, burn a 10 dvd, or simply save the 10 edition regardless of 32bit or 64bit to the drive as "Windows.iso"! When going to pick where to save it you can simply change that to "Windows 10 Home or Pro x86 or x64" and know which is what in case you go back for another download like the combination 32/64 ISO seen for both Home and Pro editions.

Here I have four dvds both flavors 32bit/64bit for both editions and had to use the two Home dvds already on one laptop. I also have each flavor of both editions on separate flash drives as well as the dual flavor combination usb turned into a 4 in 1 with them all on a USB 2.0 as well as anther USB 3.0 both 16gb flash drives to have all the bases covered for working on eventually more systems. And once you have the media made up and go to boot live from it the idea if not wanting to see the dual boot set up would be to unplug the 7 drive at least until 10 is on and running well. From there you can simply plug it back in and even add a new boot entry for 7 once you have the drive letter set in 10 for it.

You could also go with the 64bit as long as it is for the same edition of 7. But you won't have to upgrade over another install of 7 on the drive you have internally. Just follow the instructions in the 3rd guide since you already have 7 on the external drive. And the Media Creation tool shouldn't be left on the flash drive you plan to use for the 10 installation key.

Unless you have some 3rd party program like Rufus mentioned in one guide, UltraISO used enough times here, or some other iso to flash drive type program you'll want to run that from one of the hard drives preferably the same folder you download the 10 ISO to if not using the MC tool to create media directly when having the flash drive plugged in for that. The tool will detect and list the flash drive and will overwrite anything already on it when creating the 10 stick.

Glad to hear you saw results! So as it turned out the external drive was hampering things all along for you as I suspected even if it was an eSata type it was being seen much like a storage drive would be by the 10 installer which has a new way of doing things!

The important thing is you are now able to 10 on and let's hope it stays running good for you there!
