Well, that is the clincher! Your commands confirm that I do indeed have an activated copy with no expiration date, excellent news.

As to will I keep it, I shall reconsider after about 25 days as I need to be sure. I don't have a image of the old Win 7 OS as I only used the laptop for browsing and picking up mail if my main laptop was down. There is no data on it of any importance on it and I do have the Win 7 HP disks (32 & 64) and product key though, hopefully MS will allow me to use that key as it is currently unused.

So thank you NavyCMDR, acmanten, hTconeM9user and bobkn, my learning curve continues!
Glad to of been able to help.
I would certainly put it on your new laptop as windows 10 & Edge Browser improving all the time just make sure you do all the updates the main ones I mean.
Need anymore help do please ask

I upgraded to the new Windows 10 about 45 days ago, and it has been lots of fun and learning about it.
I believe that MS has done a good job on it and lots more work to make it better. There is many users here available to assist you with most anything. I am so thankful for the help I have received.

Keep trying and I believe you will like Windows 10 and you may ask questions here on Ten Forums anytime as someone/many users are always available with answers.

Thanks for your support Cliff and all other contributors. I spent some time today getting to play with 10 and finding my way around. I tried to set up Mail but it seems incapable of dealing with my POP3 settings. I normally have to set specific port numbers but there is no provision in 10 for me to do that. It just said it was unable to do it, with a vague looking error number. I use Fastmail as my main provider and a Gmail account as a backup but 10 failed to complete setup of both them. I gave up and configured eMClient instead which I have used for years, using the same settings (or most of them) that 10 failed on. So I do have mail now but it is disappointing that the 10 setup procedure is so restricted.

Unless there is a hidden procedure that I missed?

Short story : upgrading to win 10 is reserved, icon is in system tray and info said that upgrading is not possible because my graphic card is not supported ( geforce 7900 gs ).
I removed the card, delete the driver and use discrete card on motherboard which is supported but win10 upgrade application still give the warning that upgrading is not possible because 7900 gs is not supported.
Please give me an advice: what to do that win10 upgrade application can recognize correct graphic card ?

First try the "upgrade this pc now" option of Media Creation Tool:
    Windows 10

If that doesn't work, you can try a clean install using this method:

What is Filemind? Mine doesn't do anything, so maybe it is corrupted? I'm assuming it is a file manager, so I would like to try it but I would need to repair it first

Sorry, I found Filemind in Apps and thought it was a '10' program!
