W10 on Samsung N150 netbook: wrong screen resolution; cannot change

I have managed to install Windows 10 on my old Samsung N150+ netbook (as an upgrade from Windows 7 Starter). The problem at the moment is that Windows has set the screen resolution to 800x600, and offers no alternatives. The resolution should be 1024x600, so at the moment the display looks stretched. How can I persuade Windows to offer the correct resolution?

Install the video drivers for your GPU, if you can find some.

I don't know, but I've seen something on another forum in the UK where someone had a different Samsung netbook which was also stuck on 800x600. When they tried installing an older driver (the Windows 7 version I think) it immediately started giving Blue Screens of Death,

So before you try anything, I'd make sure you have a good backup, with Recovery media that you've tested will boot!
