    Windows 10 lost cd rom

    Hi there
Hope someone can help. I upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 10. everything works but my cd/dvd drive is gone from device manager. I have the drive noted below. I found the cdrom.sys in windows\system32
    ATAPI iHAS124 B ATA Device
    Driver: c:\windows\system32\drivers\cdrom.sys, 6.01.7601.17514 (English), , 0 byte

when I look in regedit HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\atapi\
    I only see Enum folder

I have seen on the internet using the following with and without "
    HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\atapi\Controller0 /f /v EnumDevice1 /t REG_DWORD /d 0x00000001"

I tried with admin rights adding that stmt twice without quotation marks but it did not take. added it then I re booted

Wondering if I should roll back my upgrade to windows 7? Would I still be able to install 10 later at no cost ?

    Hoping someone can help

First check to see if it still shows in BIOS Setup. If not then it's defective or one of the cables has come lose.
