Boot Failure error right after fresh install of Win10

I'm trying to install a new copy of Windows 10 Pro on this desktop. I inserted a 1TB HDD into it, downloaded and created installation USB using media creation tool. Then booted off that USB stick and went through initial steps of installation of fresh copy of Windows 10. It took about 10 minutes to copy files and then did the first reboot. (And booted right back into the initial installation screen off the USB, even though booting to USB is option #2 after booting into HDD.)

OK, so I took the USB stick out and tried booting again. This time I got this:

    Boot Failure
    Press any key to conitnue
I then booted into BIOS -> Advanced -> Drive Configuration and got this picture:

It sees my HDD so why can't it boot from it?

    Hi amhd

Here is the clean install tutorial for reference. Did you disable secure boot and fast boot in your BIOS before installing?

Thanks. You know purely by chance (and possibly from desperation I started flipping various switches in BIOS) I discovered that when I go to Boot -> UEFI Boot and enable it (it was off before) that machine starts booting from that hard drive. I'm not sure if it is a bug in that BIOS or what. Without that feature being on that PC refuses to boot to an HDD.

    Great.

There are some other setting on some like "CSM". In the right combination it will let you boot legacy of UEFI.

I assume Windows created a GPT disk with a UEFI boot layout on it and required this to be set in BIOS or have the right combination.

    Glad it's working.

Yes, me too. I just wish Win10 installer showed an error message or something to let me know that this is the case.
