If it's disabled, can you remove it or is that the on-board chipset?
Where is it disabled, in BIOS or via Device Manager.

Looks like onboard to me GeForce is Video, nForce is chip-set. Listed like that tells me its onboard. If it was dedicated there would be no nForce listing. On my ASUS motherboards with similar chip-sets there is no disable option for the onboard video. All you can do is change the order it looks for them in. I set PCIe as the first option to use my dedicated card.

I have the exact on-board video card. When i installed Windows 10 (Bld. 9926) Windows installed a generic video driver for the card. I was unable to use DisplayLink to use a USB adapter to run a 2nd monitor however because of the generic driver. When i went to Windows Updates, there was a video driver for my card (309.08-desktop-win8-win7-winvista-64bit-international-whql) The driver is dated 1/30/15 direct from NVidia, internal version 9.18.13.908.

I installed all the versions since 9926 up to current and the video driver has stayed the same. I was also able, with that driver to install DisplayLink drivers to run 2nd monitor.

Good thing you posted this when you did as i was seriously thinking of doing a clean install (although upgrades via Windows Updates have not caused any major issues)

What version of display driver do you currently have installed?

Just so you know, your Video drivers for your discrete video card have nothing to do with whether DisplayLink works. DisplayLink works though the USB port and is independent of your other video cards. One is not dependent on the other to work. I also had DisplayLink issues with Windows 10. I couldn't get it to work with the insider builds and gave up. I gave it one more try with the free upgrade, and the new driver supplied through Windows update worked.

That's not what the DisplayLink installer said - it said i have to update my video card driver in order to install DisplayLink. Had the same problem with an old Dell running Win 8.1.

Once i updated the generic Microsoft video driver to the NVidia one, viola, i could install DisplayLink to use the adapter to run 2nd monitor.

Ok, fair enough. I've never seen that message myself. I don't really see how one relates to the other, but if you saw that message they must be. that's a new one on me?

Ya, it was a real pain in the tookus to get that message from the DisplayLink installer - especially on the old Dell Laptop. Fortunately, NVidia provided an adequate driver to use with legacy video on-board cards that allowed me to use a 2nd monitor, and my laptop is 3 years old so it automatically installed the latest video driver dated 7/30/15 for the Radeon card.

Guess i won't be doing a clean install on my desktop - don't want the same message to greet me that greeted 'newten2015'!

I came across a similar issue when I was testing an earlier build. Change your screen resolution to the recommend setting. If it is the recommend setting, see if you can change it to 1600 x 900. Reboot and try to install windows 10. Then after windows 10 updates everything including drivers and you reboot, you change it to a different screen resolution.
