Windows 10 upgrade fails - Restoring your previous version of Windows

    Good afternoon.

Today I received the Windows 10 update notification on Windows Update, but every time I try to upgrade, after the installation process gets to 75%, the computer reboots like 10 times and then a message saying Restoring your previous version of Windows and then my computer reverts to Windows 8.1...

The most annoying thing of it all is that there is no error message to be found anywhere. When the computer boots to Windows 8.1, the Windows update history does not show any failed installations, it just asks to upgrade to Windows 10 again. There isn't anything in the Event Viewer either that could help me to troubleshoot the issue.

I've already tried to disconnect all the USB peripherals and so on.

    Any suggestions?

    Regards.

I'm having the same problem but it stops and reverts at 50% instead of 75% for me.

    Do it from media

Backup system image to a USB HDD, run update off media, and select "save nothing"

    Windows 10 fails to install

    Same with me
    I have tried
    - automatic download with Windows Update
    - Using the update tool
    - Using the installer from USB stick
    - Writin the ISO to DVD and booting from that.

All fail at the re-boot once drivers have been installed.
I suspect that the nvidia drivers for either nforce 430 or geforce GT 8200 are the issue.
But if so - why was I offered the update by windows update???
It rolled back to Win 8.1 successfully and that is stable.
Now windows update keeps trying to update and I can't seem to stop it.

    Ideas anyone?
    Sooo disappointed

News - I removed an old WiFi card Linksys WMP300N v2 and tried again.
    It has sailed through.
Funnily enough the driver for that card was supplied by Windows update on 8.1 and wouldn't install.
The clue was there if I was just thinking ....
