Issues upgrading to windows 10 - error code: 80244019

I'm running 8.1. I got the prompt that the download for Windows 10 has started. When I click the "View download progress" button in the "Get Windows 10" window, it brings me to the "Windows Update" window where it starts checking for new updates but it always fails with error code: 80244019

    Any ideas why?

Hi buddy. I've got no idea why are we getting that message but as I read in this topic you can get rid of it easily :)

Heres how I overcame the error by going to windows update settings and changing the following.

    Important updates----------------------------
Check for updates but let me choose whether to download and install them

    Recommended Updates-----------------------
"checked" Give me recommended updates the same way I receive important updates

    Microsoft update------------------------------------
"Unchecked" Give me updates for other Microsoft products when I Update windows

Hope this helps others who are having the same issue with,

This worked for me ... well done! Tried another dozen things first but a simple unchecking of the tick work sorted it ... phew
