Attempting to upgrade, windows keeps restarting back to windows 8

    Hi all,

I have attempted to download windows 10 around 4/5 times, the download completes and states that my computer needs to restart upon which it claims it is configuring the windows 10 upgrade. I would assume from this point it would restart into the windows 10 configuration however each time I have tried it it restarts back into windows 8 as if nothing had happened.

My laptop then opens up windows update and says I am able to download windows 10. This is really frustrating as I can't even seem to get into the windows 10 setup.

As you can see I am attempting to download again but there is no trace at all of it attempting to install windows other than this failed update that you can see here. Has anybody else had this problem or have any idea of how to get around it?

    Thanks in advance.

I am using an HP Pavillion 15-n268a laptop.

Exactly the same issue mate. Tried so many different things.

if i try the ISO download it gets to 100% and says failed, if i do it the windows update, it restarts to 8.1

Ah well at least I'm not alone in this haha. I was debating trying the ISO download but if it's not working for you I can't imagine it'll work for me. The only other thing I can think of is trying to re-install windows 8 as a fresh install and then try and upgrade from there.. the only issue is I have no idea where my installation CD is.

Yeah im kind of refusing to do this as i have my laptop set to how i want it and really cant be bothered for the sake of this upgrade at the moment.

If its causing this many issues just upgrading, then i doubt it will run smooth as it is.

its really frustrating that it doesnt tell you WHY there was a problem.

I don't know if this could help or not. Are you both logged in with a local account? If yes, try to log in with your Microsoft account and then do the upgrade. I have the same problem and i was logged in with a local account. When i change to a Microsoft account the upgrade was done.

According to Microsoft about this error code, you should go to your temp folder delete all temporary data and then retry to do the upgrade. Of course you should be logged in with a Microsoft account.
