Failed to upgrade to Windows 10 using the media creation tool
I am awaiting notification from my reserved place in line to upgrade to Windows 10 on my PC desktop. At present, my OS is Windows 7 Professional 64. After waiting since July 29, I decided to download the Media Creation Toolx64.exe from the Microsoft website and use it to get Windows 10.
I have attempted to obtain Windows 10 from the tool first going to the desktop’s internal SSD and when that failed, I attempted by downloading to USB flash drive and then installing to the SSD. Both ways have failed numerous times.
Going directly from the tool to the internal SSD, the process is interrupted during the upgrading phase, reverts the PC back to Windows 7 and displays this message:
Installation status: Failed
Error details: Code 80070652
Installation status: Failed Error details: Code 80070652
0X800Y70004-0X2000D
The installation failed in the SAFE-OS phase with an error during MIGRATE_DATA operation.
When I have gone to a flash drive from the tool, almost immediately, I am asked for a Windows Product Key. I type in the product key of my Windows 7 and it is rejected. At this point, I have no place to go as there is no button for me to go back or move forward to another screen.
I have disabled my anti-virus as well as many apps and devices . . . and have met only failure to obtain the Free Windows 10 Upgrade on my computer.
Any suggestions?
