System dead after install of Windows 10

So I have 2 windows 10 updates, one on this here surface 3 tablet with no issues at all.

The second one on my main desktop... sat under my desk in a right old mess.

So first of all I'll explain the current system and where it is at.
My desktop was running just fine on a 1 week old install of windows 8.1 all up to date as I just got a new Samsung 850 evo 500gb SSD to replace my aging ocz vertex 4 drive. Which is still as it was.

Now I had 1 compatibility issue with the corsair commander software and nothing else showed up.

During the installation it broke a few times followed the guides on how to resolve the error code and off it went, done in no time and up and running, I then updated the GPU drivers and rebooted.

That was the last time my system ran.

Since then I had IRQ not equal to blah bla error and then nothing system won't even boot or post anymore.

I've tried it without my gpu with a spare gpu
    I've tried different ram
I've cleared the bios and nothing my system simply refuses to post.

I then removed everything the gpu and every single attached device, off the motherboard and system.

    And the problem persists.

I have now run out of ideas.

But given the only change was the OS windows 10 I'm at a total loss of what to do.

I started down the removal route when the system refused to post under the same windows 10 installation.

Wow, that is bad news. You have tried the things I would have. No post is pretty fundamental and one wonders how the upgrade could cause this. Is it just a coincidence??

The install errors were not a good sign. The IRQ.... is usually drivers but maybe RAM.

Have you removed the RAM? If more than one stick, try one at a time. At the very least, with everything off the mobo, you have to get error beeps or you would be looking at a mobo problem. Hard to believe the BIOS is crook.

Keep us posted and maybe someone else has some good ideas.

So I used a spare motherboard, Not very good one but it's functional and spare cpu.

And the system booted up no problem at all.

Not sure what has caused the problem with my old motherboard but it's dead now.

Now I need to figure out how to activate windows on this motherboard...but then I've ordered a new mobo and cpu to arrive on Saturday so should I just wait for that?

Ah, the old failed mobo trick!

I would wait and get the new mobo installed and going and go from there.

Well I popped that mobo again on after a complete clear of the bios's both of them...it was reflashing the main one with the backup...silly thing.

I managed a full clean install of a windows 8.1 on that mobo using another drive.

So that mobo is fully functional.

Tried it again with my windows 10 drive...didn't boot again.

So yeah not sure what is going on there.

But this activation thing has me curious. I don't have a windows 10 licence key yet just the one from windows 8 and 7 and stuff which don't seem to do anything at all.
