Windows 10 installation process freezes at 32% and 6%

During the first three attempts at installing windows 10, the process has frozen at 32% total installation and 6% on the "drivers and features" section. The entire process freezes and no animations play. No errors, after reboot from the freeze it just puts my OS back to Win 7.

I have tried both through wds update and the manual MediaCreationTool.exe both ways have resulted in the same issue of 32 & 6%.

I pass the reply I've done to other thread, I think we have the same issue

Hi, my first post is for give you some support xD. I've tried to fix since yesterday with this error code:

Error "0xC1900101 - 0x30018 - Error en la instalación en la fase FIRST_BOOT con un error durante la operación SYSPREP

Yesterday I try to fix it with disabling this:

    - secure boot disable
    - no malware soft
    - antivirus off (ms defender)
    - not usbs
    - ssd on, hdd off
    - not framework 3.5

And a lot of things I don't remmeber haha. Finaly I reinstall w8.1 and ONLY I downloaded Windows updates (no card drivers, no motherboard drivers, etc). After of this, I download media tool from Windows website and installing the upgrade (no reservation or Windows update process).

I've tried to install w10 over 10 times and it always stucks on 32% (general count) and 6% (installing features). One thing I can tell you, I think that this error code is about video drivers....because when count pass from 32% to 35% the image improve like if the drivers would have been installed. It's about drivers, and the best way to be sure it's a new w8 OS, it's a ****, but it Works xD

My advice is try to reinstall win8 and upgrade it to w10 (to get the activation), after of this, make a clean w10 instalation by USB.

Hi, I'm having the exact same problem; it freezes at the same point after numerous tries. Have you figured out the problem yet? If so, could you kindly let me know.
    Cheers

    me too

I have the "same" problem, install hangs at 32% / 6%.
Installing from Win 10 dvd that I downloaded using the media creation tool.
Upgrading from Win 7 Home Premium.

I believe it is related to the video drivers as well.
I have a Geforce GT 240 card currently with 280.26 drivers. In a normal Win 7 environment I'm unable to update the drivers, PC just freezes and crashes and I have to roll back the install in Safe Mode. Have tried (as of today) the latest drivers for both Win7 / Win10 (341.44 / 341.74) and these hang and computer freezes around the 5-10% mark. Fortunately a reboot can recover, but I can install v280.26 no problems. I suspect this is the cause of not being able to install Win10.

wrt the Win 10 upgrade, I have uninstalled virus scanning, .NET framework, Nvidia drivers etc, but install still hangs at 32%. I have tried 7 times and now given up...

btw, I'm using the option to keep all files and data during the upgrade

Unplug all of your USB devices when it freezes. Mine continued.

    Including the keyboard and mouse?
These are the only USB devices that I have connected.

    Thanks for the tip, sachiel!

I had the same problem the first time I tried upgrading. Thanks to sachiel I came to the conclusion that it probably has something to do with this small USB fan on the table that I bought from Dealextreme to cool my mouse hand (lol). I disconnected the thingy and tried to upgrade once more, this time it worked perfectly. So yeah, make sure that you don't have any bizarre accessories connected to your PC.

It ended up being my CM Storm Spawn mouse screwing it up. Needless to say, I disconnected all other SATA drives, optical and hd, removed my NVIDIA GTX560 and used the HDMI and not the DVI video while disabling my PCI-e in my BIOS and making sure that all of my Intel storage and USB drivers were up to date according to the ASRock Z77 Extreme4 page. This was awful.
