I use DDU in safe mode Mike always with no problems until the 375.xx series were released.
If you have a look at the guru3d forum thread on this driver there are a few members who are actually blaming DDU for this problem. GeForce 375.70 WHQL driver download discussion - Guru3D.com Forums
I'm having problems using DDU (latest version) with the 375 drivers as well. After it cleans the old drivers in safe mode and reboots, Windows 10 automatically and immediately installs a driver. Seems that "block windows updates" in DDU isn't working anymore. Then Windows 10 tells me to reboot because of their driver install before I have a chance to install the latest driver myself. If I try to install the latest driver, it fails because the system needs a reboot of the driver Windows 10 installed.
The trouble free method for me was not using DDU and using just the Nvidia installer. I used clean install. Don't know why DDU isn't working as it should. Maybe a windows update or the Nvidia 375 drivers changed something.
Well interesting that you guys had those problems with DDU, and the 375 drivers as well. I used the latest version of DDU, and had none of the problems you had. Like I said installed just fine on 2 different computers.
