Problem after clean install of W10. IDE to AHCI, graphics now laggy

Clean install just before Christmas, all good.

After New Years, I realised that my bios was set to IDE. Ssd's work faster if they are set to AHCI. So I changed the bios to AHCI and then performed a clean install.

Long story short, since swapping from ide which worked fine. To now on AHCI, every time I try to play any games the graphics card lags out. From say 60 down to 7, then 65 down to 10 fps etc.

Every thing I can think of has been updated.

    What is causing this issue?

I have read about using the intel RST software and drivers.

Also my ssd is a crucial 2.5" 128gb.

    What is going on.......

Change back IDE to see if its causing the issue don't worry you don't need to reinstall Windows 10.

I think AHCI is already enabled in windows. When i go into device manager it shows it as ahci already.

    Go to http://www.crucial.com/usa/en/support-storage-executive
    Have it analyze your SSD.

Well it said that my SSD is okay...... So I dunno. I guess I'll have to try and switch back to IDE. Or there was a power on/off feature that some people were having to fiddle with in the registry.

I just change the bios back to IDE and it's gone to shit. Blue screen windows will not load.

I was able to run some windows advanced system checker from that blue screen. It eventually got windows 10 boot again, this time in IDE. Games are still laggy etc.

Does this mean we can rule out the SSD?

Have you installed AHCI/SATA driver? Windows uses MS driver by default.
