    Here is AMD's download site. If you know the exact model, you can go to the manual download section, otherwise let it detect your hardware.

    just tried amd autodetect, says i have the latest drivers

    Then you could try manually reinstall the same driver to fix any issues, if the installation is corrupt.

    How? device manager - uninstall monitor. but how do u see what u doing while the monitor is not installed?

    If was talking about reinstalling the same AMD graphics driver. As for monitor, without drivers it reverts to "standard monitor" (not remember the exact words) and you can see the screen but in certain standard resolutions (such as 1024x768, 1280x800 etc). To get full functionality you must set it to Generic PnP monitor or install a specific monitor driver (rare).

    Ive just been to my device manager, got the generic monitor thing already loaded so Ill leave that as is. On display adapters is my amd graphics card, right? Do I just uninstall that, go to amd website and autodetect and install?

    You can try uninstalling the AMD applications from Programs and Features or using Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) utility. Then restart the computer and try installing latest driver from AMD.
