No improvement for the icon problem since the driver updates that were made. It doesn't matter, I'm waiting.

I have an nvidia account, maybe I'll report it if it doesn't resolve.

The problem with the icons seems solved, the functioning of the icon has changed I think. When geforce experience is installed in addition to the nvidia control panel, you must hover over the system tray icon, nvidia parameter appears in popup, a left click opens the nvidia panel. A right click on the icon brings up geforce experience and exit, you must then left click on geforce experience. But on my desktop where geforce experience is not installed, a right click brings up "geforce experience", perhaps not quite resolved.

Is it necessary to install GeForce Experience? I've seen a few comments to the effect that it's not useful.

I find it VERY useful, I use it to install new drivers.

Interesting. I just Googled "do I need geforce experience?" and there are many users who think it slows their FPS.

It's a good tool if you find it useful, I prefer doing the tweaking myself. FPS will vary depending on individual Specs, you just have to try it.
